here that we are trying to keep an active relationship between our mind
and our body. To be kept active it must be practiced on a regular
routine. Smiling and laughing is a wonderful habit to have. Using the
habit will become so natural we don't even have to think about it. It
will be a natural action or reaction.
There is an old expression "mind over matter". This applies to our question at the beginning. We can smile or laugh and we feel better or we can appear to be stressed and feel terrible. We do have a choice in which we decide to do. We know that every situation cannot be laughed at, but we must at least try to smile and remember we can get through it. Learn not to dwell on bad things but look for the good. You will generally find what it is you seek.
A good thing to do would be to have a "bank". This is a memory of good and funny events that you can draw from. Try to add a funny happening to your bank as often as you can. The difference in your memory bank and your money bank is that you will never be over-drawn. You can make a deposit as often as you are willing to laugh. The younger we are the more deposits we can make.
Learning to laugh can give us a will to live and increases our ability to fight disease. We know that when we are laughing we are in a more relaxed state of mind and body.
A good hearty laugh will actually burn calories. That thought alone should make you smile. Laughter activates the brain, making it easier to learn. Also it keeps the brain more alert and lets us keep more information. Laughter is something you cannot buy. You have to make your own.
Making your own laughter pays big dividends. It will help you be more alert by improving your brain functions. Also it will ease tension and stress while protecting the heart, lowering blood pressure and in general making you feel good.
A happy healthy person is more apt to be surrounded by other happy healthy people. By laughing and sharing our laughs with others is good insurance. We can always count on having others around us if we share our laughter with them. Laughter can make us closer. You have a choice in laughing, you can laugh or not.
Have you ever considered laughter therapy as being a science? Well it is. Laughter has been used for centuries in Eastern Medicine and is an accepted therapy. Now that we are aware of this we can better control our thoughts and actions, in order to produce the optimal healthy, state.
Laughter has similar health benefits as aerobic exercise but comes without the aches and pains that often accompany physical exercise. Laughter is a good medicine; even the expectation of laughter was very effective. It showed that a person expecting to watch a funny program or video lowered their stress inducing chemicals and helped release stress relievers.
Brain chemistry seems to be changed by laughter; being able to laugh seems to give a person more control over themselves as well as over the situation. Have you ever thought that a good belly laugh could be like a trip to the spa for your upper body? When you laugh your facial muscles stretch, your back and shoulders unknot, even your abdomen and diaphragms contract.
We can teach ourselves to laugh and see humor in stressful situations. There are people who teach people to laugh, they are known as motivational humorists. One such person, past the age of seventy, has no heart disease. We take for granted that laughing is a natural way of life but the fact is some people have to be taught.
Laughing is the best way to get over being depressed. When we can surround ourselves with family and friends and enjoy some good humor and laughter it will do us a world of good. It is like a shot in the arm. It will snap us back into shape in no time.
